THE PSYCHOSOCIAL IMPACT OF WHISTLEBLOWING

This study seeks to explore the psychosocial impacts experienced by whistleblowers, as well as the perspectives of mental health professionals, such as psychologists and counsellors, who provide care and support to them. The overarching goal is to develop psychosocial resources that will strengthen and enhance existing support frameworks for whistleblowers. By examining the emotional, social, and institutional consequences of whistleblowing, this research highlights the urgent need for comprehensive, trauma-informed interventions. It draws attention to the psychosocial dimensions of whistleblowing, an area often neglected in legal or governance-focused approaches. In doing so, this report contributes to the creation of a more holistic framework for whistleblower protection.
